Have you ever asked someone how they were doing and had them hinge their response on how the day goes?
On the other hand, have you ever noticed how contagious someone's cheerfulness can be? When you're around someone who is genuinely happy and upbeat, it's hard not to feel the same way. But the opposite is also true - negativity and grumpiness can bring down the mood of those around us.
Studies have shown that cheerfulness has numerous scientific benefits for employees in the workplace. Research suggests that a positive and cheerful outlook can lead to higher levels of job satisfaction, increased productivity, and better overall health. When employees are happy and cheerful, they tend to have higher levels of engagement, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
Cheerful employees are also more likely to have positive relationships with their colleagues, which can improve team dynamics and collaboration. Additionally, cheerful employees tend to have better physical health, including reduced risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, and better sleep quality. All of these benefits can contribute to a more positive and productive workplace culture.
Cheerfulness is not an innate and unattainable characteristic. It is a skill you can choose to cultivate.

Wake up each morning, making a decision that you will be light, bright, and at ease no matter what the day brings.
Spend focused time in the morning meditating on that intention. Visualize what being cheerful will look like for you as you navigate the day. First, we think, then we do then we become. So just start with that positive thought and intention. Try invoking cheer this week. And then visit the Mindful in 5 LinkedIn page and post your thoughts and share how it went.
