Welcome to the Mindful in 5 podcast invitation for the week, a quick thought to help you operate from your peaceful path. Have you ever had something exciting happened to you like a promotion, a new baby, maybe you launched a new business venture. And then you share that amazing news with friends or family, only to be surprised or disappointed at the negative reactions you received.
Maybe they questioned the wisdom of what you were doing. Maybe they simply turned green amidst insincere claims of congratulations and sort of mumbled along.
As I record this invitation, I have two friends who are expecting new babies, and several who have taken on new roles or been promoted. What I realized is how excited I am and how much joy it has brought me to celebrate these new chapters of my friends’ lives.
Joy does not have to be directly related to something that is happening to you. You can be sincerely joyful and celebrate another's wins. This week, I invite you to truly celebrate someone else's promotion or new adventure. It may require you to put your greed away and not tie it to your own situation. But if you can sincerely cultivate joy for another, it can infuse your own life with a deeper sense of peace and happiness.
