Speaker 1:

Welcome to Mindful in 5, where ambitious professionals find your peaceful oasis to thrive in high-pressure environments. I'm Spiwe Jefferson attorney, certified mindfulness practitioner and author of the Mindful in 5 book series, here to guide you to a clearer, softer and more supported life. Join me as we explore the power of the beginner's mind, bringing childlike wonder to your busy life. Starting with just five minutes a day, elevate your work. Empower your life. Hello and happy Labor Day. I am thrilled to be back with you over this Labor Day week, ready to embark on a joyful journey of professional growth and personal empowerment. This is the kickoff to Season 5 of the Mindful in 5 podcast series. This season, we are diving deep into the challenges faced by ambitious professionals like you. Whether you're a driven entrepreneur building your dream or a seasoned leader navigating corporate waters, we have crafted each episode with your needs in mind. We understand the struggle of maintaining a sense of purpose amidst daily chaos, the challenge of cultivating resilience in the face of setbacks and the desire to lead with presence and compassion. That is why we are committed to helping you live higher and work stronger this season. Work stronger this season. I am incredibly excited about the season because we have poured countless hours into creating a format that delivers maximum value that you can implement, starting with just five minutes. Each episode will follow a clear and consistent structure. We will identify a common professional challenge, explore its impact on your work and life, introduce a practical, science-backed technique to address it and then offer a thought-provoking perspective to shift your mindset and provide a concrete weekly strategy to implement what you have learned. If that sounds like a lot, don't be discouraged. The idea of the weekly strategy is based on the Japanese concept of continuous improvement called Kaizen. Concept of continuous improvement called Kaizen making small, manageable changes inspired by each episode, allowing these incremental steps to compound into significant personal growth over time. Obviously, you don't have to implement everything every week, but perhaps choose one or two concepts here and there that speak to you and stick to them and build. But that's not all we're doing. In season five we are also introducing a new feature downloadable companionable content with every episode. These resources will be available on spewardjeffersoncom or in the show notes or, for you mindful ninjas who subscribe to the email, you will be able to get them delivered directly to your inbox via email, giving you additional tools to deepen your practice and integrate these concepts into your daily life. From mastering time management to cultivating emotional intelligence, from building stronger workplace relationships to finding joy in your daily tasks. We will cover it all with a focus on bringing more peace, clarity and cheerful energy to your professional life. Your engagement is crucial to making this season truly impactful. I invite you to share your experiences, ask questions and let us know how these practices are helping you elevate your work and empower your life.

I want to take a moment to talk about something else special. You will notice this season the new cover art for Season 5. You will see some adorable images of kids dressed in business attire engaging in various mindfulness activities in work environments. Picture a tiny tot in a suit meditating before starting to type on a keyboard, or a pint-sized professional taking a mindful moment during their commute. Now you might be wondering what's the deal with the kids? Well, there is a powerful message behind these charming images. These little ones represent something crucial to our mindfulness journey, the beginner's mind, in fact. If you are interested in learning more about that, you can scroll back to a past episode where I spoke to my friend, scott Wallace, who came, and he talked about his mindful coping strategies, and one of the things we dug into is this concept of the beginner's mind, and he did just a masterful job of explaining what it is and what it means. So if you're interested, you will find that episode in the show notes. But you can go back to the Mindful M5 podcast series and look up podcast number 18, titled Six Coping Mechanisms with Scott. There you will find an exposition of the beginner's mind, and that is one of the foundational elements for why we're using this imagery this season.

In addition to that, by featuring children in adult work scenarios, we are encouraging you, our wonderful mindful ninjas, to approach each day with the same childlike wonder and openness that these little ones embody. Think about the incredible qualities that children naturally possess. Trust Children approach the world with an innate sense of trust, allowing them to form connections easily. Authenticity Kids are unapologetically themselves, free from the masks we often wear as adults. Creativity A child's imagination knows no bounds, seeing possibilities where adults might see obstacles and the limitations of conventional expectations. Resilience Watch a toddler learning to walk. They fall, get up and try again, undeterred by setbacks. Optimism Children often see the best in situations and approach challenges with a can-do attitude. These are the qualities we want you to tap into all season long. Our cover art serves as a visual reminder to resurrect these powerful traits within ourselves. And also, I hope, it makes you smile, like I do every time I look at it, no matter what kind of day I am having, like I do every time I look at it, no matter what kind of day I am having.

As we embark on this new season, I challenge you to embrace your inner child approach, your mindfulness practice and indeed, each day, with the curiosity and openness of your youthful self exploring the world for the first time, of your youthful self exploring the world for the first time. Let's shed our preconceptions, our adult doubts and fears, and rediscover the joy of being present in each moment. Just as our little business-clad tots are finding mindfulness in everyday work scenarios, so can we bring that same spirit of discovery and presence into our daily lives? Remember mindful ninjas. It's not about regressing to childhood, but about rekindling those qualities that make children such natural mindfulness practitioners. Let's approach our practice with trust, authenticity, creativity, openness, resilience and optimism. Are you ready to begin this journey with a beginner's mind? Thank you for being part of this mindful community. I can't wait to dive into our first topic next week. May your work be filled with peaceful purpose and joyful growth. This Mindful in 5 season, until next week, this is Be Weigh Saying Be Mindful and Be Well.
