Welcome to Mindful in 5, where busy professionals find your peaceful oasis to thrive in complex work environments. I am Spiw Jefferson attorney, certified mindfulness practitioner and author of the Mindful in 5 book series, here to guide you to a clearer, softer and more supported life. This year has been nothing short of transformative for our Mindful Ninjas, which is what I call our beloved Mindful in 5 community. This year, the Mindful in 5 podcast reached 1,800 downloads across 28 countries, which is rather impressive given that I don't actually do any real advertising. So there's that your commitment to mindful living has created ripples of positive change across the globe. Each of our 51 episodes, totaling 472 precious minutes, has been a shared journey towards greater peace and purpose. Looking back, our story began with a vision to bring mindfulness to busy professionals in bite-sized, practical ways. From the publication of Mindful in 5 Meditations for People with no Time, my first book in August 2021, to Mindful in 5, the God Lovers edition in September of 2022, and, most recently, the Mindful in 5 God Lovers Journal in November of 2024. And somewhere in there was also Mindful in 5, maybe, okay, I found it. It was August of 2022. With the Mindful in 5 book series, we have created a suite of resources that meet you exactly where you are the who Moved my Cheese of Mindfulness books. Each one features composite characters that are struggling and succeeding in their life's journeys using mindfulness in their dark dawn and day seasons. Through their examples, you can see how to apply mindfulness in your own life.
Spiwe Jefferson:2024 brought exciting innovations to our community. The Mindful in 5 Summer Zen Series provided refreshing five-minute strategies well, maybe five to seven-minute strategies for those sunny, busy months when maybe our attention span is not that long. We also launched the groundbreaking Mindful in 5 Blueprints offering step-by-step guides for resilience building, leadership development and entrepreneurial growth. You can find free overviews of the blueprints on the downloadables section under the shop on spewyjeffersoncom. Every download, every page turned, every minute spent in mindful practice represents your choosing peace over pressure and clarity over chaos. So celebrate yourself for every moment that you have spent in mindful reflection in 2024. Looking ahead to 2025, I am thrilled to announce our upcoming Mindful in 5 practice guides.
Spiwe Jefferson:With recent announcements of significant workforce changes at major companies like Nike, cargill, bristol-myers Squibb, expedia and Southwest Airlines, the fifth book in the Mindful in 5 series and first practice guide will focus on mindful job searching, Combining practical strategies with emotional resilience for today's complex job market. There you will meet Jillian, who was shocked to the core by an unexpected layoff. Marcus, a college senior, wondering why his hundreds of applications are not getting results. Aaliyah's company soared during the pandemic but is now in ashes as her clients have switched to AI tools. Your stories of transformation fuel this mission. Take a moment to reflect on your mindfulness journey this year. What new practices have become part of your daily rhythm? How has your professional life transformed through these small, intentional moments, your voice matters so much in this community.
Spiwe Jefferson:After all, it is actually the reason why I started this work in the first place. I felt passionate about the fact that there was so much stress in the professional working world and just across, certainly, the United States in general. There was an article that came out, a study that came out, that indicated that something like over 40 million adults in the United States that's 19.1% of the population suffer from an anxiety disorder. I came across this staggering statistic from the I think it was the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and it just struck a chord with me and I was also seeing the same kinds and the language of stress in the legal profession, which is near and dear to me, since I'm a lawyer.
Spiwe Jefferson:Even my fellow general counsel were experiencing and expressing stress and frustration, and I really started this work because I care so deeply about the mental and emotional wellness of my own colleagues and friends and I thought you know what. Somebody ought to write a book that's super accessible and that provides really practical guidance, like step-by-step, and do it in a really entertaining way. So I cast about for that book and couldn't find it, and so this is how I started this work, and so I care, I care about your mental health, I care about your wellness, I care about the amount of joy that you can infuse into your life, and so I really encourage you, even if you dabbled in mindfulness for a little bit in 2024, I invite you to take the journey with the Mindful Ninjas in 2025. And let's see if we can deepen that practice so that you can get even more benefit out of your mindfulness practice in 2025.
